How Do I Become a Peer Support Specialist in Kentucky?
Primarily, you must complete a Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities (DBHDID) approved 30-hour training course. In addition to the peer support training, other requirements include lived experience of recovery, and a high school diploma or equivalent.
Train Kentucky’s Adult Peer Support Training Course
At Train Kentucky, we offer a monthly online evidence-based Peer Support Certification Course that fulfills the DBHDID’s training requirement. Train Kentucky’s curriculum consistently adheres to, or surpasses, the curriculum requirements outlined by the Kentucky Department of Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities, as indicated in the 908 KAR 2:220 regulation.

Application Review and Approval
